Introduction to BS 8888
BS 8888 is the current British Standard for Technical Product Specification and Documentation. It replaced BS 308 in 2000.
This course provides a one-day overview of the requirements of BS 8888.
The course includes a review of good practice for technical product specification, as well as covering the key concepts and requirements of BS 8888:
- Format and presentation requirements.
- Working with 2D and 3D data.
- The principles of product definition
Topics such as geometrical tolerancing and surface texture requirements are covered in very general terms – specific courses are available for those who need a more detailed understanding of these topics.

A half day course for engineers, designers and technicians who need to up-date from BS 308 practices to BS 8888 and the ISO system.
This course provides an overview of what has changed with the new standard (and what has not changed).
Topics such as geometrical tolerancing and surface texture requirements are covered in very general terms – specific courses are available for those who need a more detailed understanding.
